Answers to Common Questions
QUESTION:
How do I know if I qualify for medical cannabis in Texas?
ANSWER:
Please look at the extensive list of qualifying conditions. As of 9/1/2025, Chronic Pain for >90 days will also qualify.
QUESTION:
How often do I need to follow up to stay in the TCUP program?
ANSWER:
We are medical professionals, here to help our patients with therapeutic guidance in the TCUP program. After the initial consultation and medication response check-in, patients typically follow up online every 3-6 months depending on their needs. Our younger and older patients tend to require more frequent visits, but every patient is different and will have their own individualized treatment plans. This is applicable to all patients, including Rapid Registration patients as well as Full DPC patients.
QUESTION:
Will I need to pay a higher $150 new (re)certification appointment every year?
ANSWER:
No, we believe in maintaining our patient relationships! As an established Diagnostic Pain Center / Texas Herb Clinic patient, unlike at other practices, our subsequent
recertification price remains at the lower follow-up price. If you become a full Diagnostic Pain Center patient, we can even accept your health insurance and offer you many more treatment options while still maintaining your certification within the TCUP program.
QUESTION:
I have already been approved before for medical cannabis, do I still need to do the “First Time Appointment” or should I select “follow-up appointment”?
ANSWER:
New patients are new patients, and it takes us a lot of time to process everything. If you have never seen us before, select New Patient or First Time Appointment. Remember, if you have any type of pain and would like to learn of more options beyond just medical cannabis, you can become a full DPC patient and we can accept your health insurance!
QUESTION:
Can I use my health insurance?
ANSWER:
Diagnostic Pain Center / Texas Herb Clinic offers much more than just access to the TCUP program (assuming you qualify), and we can accept your health insurance! Rapid Registration patients cannot use health insurance, but we can accept your FSA & HSA. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure they are in compliance with their specific FSA and HSA account rules and regulations.
